The elven city of Saber lies about fifty miles to the northeast of Rime. It is built on the shores of Lake Ellenia, in the shadows of the eastern Kazdarri mountains.
Saber is a gerontocracy, ruled by the elders of the elven clans in the area. The city has a long history of isolation from foreign kingdoms and conflicts between the races. This is mainly due to the history of the elves who founded the city as a sanctuary for refugees heading north from the Great Wars. A large migration of clans headed north after seeing their homeland destroyed by an orc invasion five hundred years ago.
Saber’s main currency is the elstar (worth a single gold piece in Saber and throughout most of Ilti). Many parts of the city remain closed to outsiders and non-elves, although foreign merchants are allowed to move freely through the city’s outer districts to ply their wares in the lakeside markets.
